Introduction to day trading and trading online
Day trading is where investments are bought and then sold within a single day before the market closes, with the hope of making a profit. This is in contrast to a swing trader who buys stocks and keeps them longer than a day.
Computers and broadband internet have given the ordinary person the ability to have almost the same trading tools that were traditionally only available to stockbrokers. To some people day trading may seem like gambling, but it is only becomes gambling when people take unneccessary risks.
Day trading might seem like a great career - working for yourself, at home, your own hours, but the reality is that it takes a great deal of discipline, risk, skill and good old fashioned hard work. Most people who start day trading start small by only investing a small amount of time and money. If the returns build as your success and ability increase, the sky is the limit!

Day traders are making a come back with the increased number of trading options available, Business Day reports from South Africa.
The day trader loves the adrenalin rush and the potential for big money, and belongs to the same culture as poker and casino players. He is certainly not your average asset manager. But he could be your mild-mannered dentist who rushes to the trading screens between patients.
